Join us at our Stud Farm near Malmesbury, Wiltshire, on Saturday, 28 July for a viewing on our two new National Hunt horses, a 3yo gelding by Arcadio to be trained by Nicky Henderson and a 3yo gelding by Black Sam Bellamy to be trained by Fergal O’Brien. Light refreshments will be provided.
The start time will be confirmed closer to the date but is expected to be late morning. To book your place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Matt Budden on 07425 140291.
Our first National Hunt horse with Fergal O’Brien has been terrific fun and the impressive bumper winner and Goffs UK £50,000 Spring Sales Bumper third Benny’s Bridge was a great find at the Doncaster Store Sales last year, so why wouldn’t we go back and attempt to repeat the success? We purchased this stunning 3yo gelding by Black Sam Bellamy and the more we saw of him at the sales, the more everybody loved him. That has also been the case since he joined Fergal O’Brien’s stables close to Cheltenham, where he was ridden away and left his successful trainer starry eyed!
This gelding is by the high-class National Hunt stallion Black Sam Bellamy, the sire of many top-class horses including Gr.1 Long Walk Hurdle winner Sam Spinner and Gr.2 Cotswold Chase and Cheltenham Gold Cup-placed The Giant Bolster. Although she only ran once, his dam Sylvan Wings was highly-regarded and ran a most encouraging race in a National Hunt Flat race at Cheltenham. This is a very strong NH family and the dam is a half-sister to six winners including the classy hurdlers and chasers Captain Khedive and Crack On. Our gelding is the first surviving progeny of racing age from the mare and he looks a really high-class racing prospect.
UPDATE: Following his purchase at the Doncaster Store Sale in late May, this gelding has been broken in at Fergal O’Brien’s and will soon enjoy a summer break before returning to training to be prepared for the 2018/19 National Hunt Season. He is a fantastic mover, a superb-looking individual with tremendous physical scope. He also received a clean bill of health from a panel of vets at the sales.
We organise regular visit to see our horses in training, but with Fergal O’Brien there is the added benefit that you can visit your horse most Saturday mornings, which gets you even more involved as an owner.
